Charity's Foundation for Balance was created in memory of our founder's sister, Charity. Charity was adventurous, spunky, full of life and ready to take on any challenge. She loved all animals, from spiders to cats and horses, and it was her life-long dream to become a veterinarian. Charity struggled with anorexia, bulimia, alcohol addiction and mental health issues, and lost her life to these struggles on October 13, 2021, at the age of 28. Chris, our founder, was constantly working with Charity during her life to help her find a healthier way, a more 'balanced' way, to live her life. After Charity passed, Chris wanted to be able to offer the resources that would assist others in overcoming similar struggles, and found there was a huge need for accessibility and education regarding wellness and health. Charity's Foundation for Balance hopes to address these needs and fill the gaps so that nobody has to succumb to the helplessness they feel regarding their own physical and mental health.
We believe that when people are healthy, communities become healthy, leading to a healthier society. Education is vital for creating change, yet many individuals struggle to find reliable resources. That's where our community support comes in.
Charity’s Foundation for Balance aims to build a diverse organization of professionals and allies to promote wellness, develop educational programs, provide essential resources, and foster collaborations that enhance all dimensions of well-being for the Montrose community and its surrounding areas.
In addition, we strive to offer a variety of health, fitness, and wellness services to the community at large, focusing particularly on outreach to underserved populations. We also place a strong emphasis on promoting nutrition, wellness, and mental health opportunities in the Montrose area, in memory of Charity, with a dedicated focus on the prevention and recovery from eating disorders and addiction. We also encourage volunteer opportunities, allowing community members to engage actively in these important efforts.
